The Swan is extremely quiet, despite it being an old-fashioned compressor model. We measured it at a modest 42dB while it was running. It's considerably quieter than models of 10 years ago and far quieter than the majority of refrigerator freezers we've tested in our Best Buy chart.
This refrigerator also had a good temperature stability. The top shelves, middle and bottom all had an average temperature within a couple of degrees either side of the maximum figure. The salad drawer was more variable, bouncing between 5oC and just under freezing.
The fridge also requires manual defrosting from time to time, however it is rated as A+ in energy efficiency. This makes it the most energy-efficient fridge freezer on our Best Buy chart. It will keep your electricity bills at a minimum.
